A live-feed protocol is not a datasheet. It is a set of habits — how you dose, when you harvest, what a healthy filter mat looks like, what the water should smell like — and habits transfer best from person to person, standing at the same tank.
That is how Super Fresh Chlorella V12 (SV12) came to Türkiye. In February 2019, VARS brought the SV12 rotifer protocol to the Kılıç hatchery on the Aegean coast — and brought the protocol's authors with it: engineers from Chlorella Industry Co., Ltd., the Japanese manufacturer that grows SV12 at its Chikugo plant in Fukuoka.
The product arrives the way it left Japan
SV12 travels from Japan by air in insulated styrene-foam boxes with cold packs, and lands at the hatchery still labelled for the cold chain — keep refrigerated, never freeze, handle with care.

Inside each box is a bag of live chlorella concentrate. Every bag is weighed on arrival — the scale below reads 21.040 kg — before it goes into the rotifer routine.

Working the protocol, tank by tank
Implementation meant running the full SV12 routine on Kılıç's rotifer batteries: saturating tanks at stocking, dosing four to six times a day as densities climbed, and reading the culture's health from the equipment as much as from the counts.
One of those reads is the filter mat. The Japanese engineers checked and washed the mats between cycles — the pattern and colour of the chlorella residue tells an experienced eye how evenly the feed is being taken up.

What it led to
The 2019 implementation was the start of a programme that has run ever since. The dosing habits transferred that winter became Kılıç's standard rotifer routine, and the results are the ones we have published since: rotifer densities multiplying up to eight-fold within 72 hours on the SV12 protocol, with steadier cultures and stronger larvae behind them. The follow-on trials are documented in our earlier report on the KılıçDeniz hatchery trials.
Today the same protocol — and the same cold chain from Chikugo — supplies hatcheries across our markets. The full technical picture of the product is in our guide, from a Japanese culture pool to your rotifer tanks.
Bring the protocol to your hatchery
The visit that started this case study is repeatable: a trial plan sized to your rotifer tanks, the dosing schedule, and support from the people who run it daily. Start from the SV12 product page or see the rest of our project portfolio.
