Vital Wheat Gluten is a high-grade vegetable protein widely utilized in aquaculture feed formulations. It serves as both a primary protein source and an excellent binding agent, ensuring that feed pellets remain intact in the water, reducing waste and maintaining water quality.
At VARS Aquaculture, our vital wheat gluten is sourced from certified European and Canadian producers and processed to ensure high protein concentration (≥ 82% dry basis) and superior functional performance in extruded aquafeed.
When hydrated during extrusion conditioning, gluten proteins (gliadin and glutenin) form an elastic, cohesive viscoelastic network that binds starches and lipids securely. This structural matrix provides exceptional water stability and pellet durability, dramatically reducing underwater nutrient leaching, physical breakdown, and fine particulate pollution in aquaculture tanks and open cages.
With water absorption capacity exceeding 150% and pepsin digestibility above 90%, it serves as a cost-effective, highly digestible plant protein complementing marine meals for carnivorous marine species, salmonids, and shrimp. It is supplied in 25 kg multi-wall bags and bulk containers, fully certified for commercial feed manufacturing.
